Senmut TT71 and TT353

Senmut, a high ranking official during the reign of Queen Hasthepsut and architect of her famous mortuary temple at Deir el Bahri was one of the most powerful men under a pharaohs reing. He built himself 2 tombs of which TT71 was the first one. High upon the center hills at Qurna it has a wonderful overlooking view over his creation Tjesher tjesheru, which was the hieroglyphic name for the Queens temple Deir el Bahri. The tomb lies open and is heavily dammaged from the rain and almost totally collapsed. At several spots you still can read his name on the rocks and if you can find the guard you can visit the site for a few bakschish. The second tomb TT353 is situated very close at the foot of the temple and in fact goes all the way beneath the Temple of Deir el Bahri. Neither of the tombs seem to be finished, yet members of his household were found on the TT71 site as was one of his favourite horses.
