Temple of Derr

The temple of Derr at the banks of Nasser Lake is a well preserved temple, built by Ramses II. The site is located approximately 500 yards from the Amada complex. The original site of the temple was 7 miles SW of the present location near the district capital of El-Derr, now disappeared in the Lake Nasser. It is a rock temple, for a great part cut into the rock, the pylon and the court in front of the rock part of the temple now have disappeared. The temple was dedicated to the sun god Re-Harakhty.
